This Morning's Walk

Although fog over the pond always attracts me, I'm seldom satisfied the with my photographic attempts to capture the look. These are todays' efforts:

Paint Branch flooded a few weeks ago, and the strength of the flowing water was sufficient to break in half this log which I used to walk on to cross the stream.

Honor is two months old and was the focus of the week at Bethany Beach. Photo above is with her mother. Here she is with father, mother, and grandmother:

Storm passes over Bethany Beach

I left the beach house to go for a walk on the beach one day last week when I noticed some menacing-looking clouds inland. I coudn't tell which way they were moving, but since I had on my rain gear I didn't worry about getting caught in a downpour. Although it rained heavily for a while, I figured it would pass soon which it did. I took this picture after the storm had moved out to sea.

Back home to my normal routine

 

Returning home from our Brooklyn visit, I reverted to my habit of photographing the pond. This one was taken shortly after a storm the day of our return on July 20th.

 

This second photo was taken a few days later. It's always the same pond, but everyday it's different.

I got temporarily lost on some of the walks which made me think of the Thomas Wolfe short story "Only the Dead Know Brooklyn." Although my phone gives this location as Flatbush, I think I was nearer the Kensington section, but what do I know.

I went on many walks around their neighborhood as well as in the cemetery. This bar and grill which has been there since 1933 caught my eye:

Prospect Park was also a frequent walking destination. This is a shot Pam took of me next to the lake. Once again, I was neglectful in not photographing her:

Green wood is a  famous, old cemetery which is across the street from Rebecca and Sean.

In the 19th and early 20th centuries, the well-off spent money on elaborate stone grave markers.

 Pam is unfortunately missing from these photos because she took them. I was negligent for not taking any shots of her with Honor.

Poltical messages in the park

Protests against racism have been going on all over the country for weeks. During my walks I've seen messages in chalk written on the walkways, but it's usually difficult to fit in the entire message into a photograph without resorting to an elevated platform. This is one message that I was able to get in most of:

It went with the familiar "Black Lives Matter" message nearby and lists a website entitled "young, black, and aware."
