Our seasonal yard look
Pam took this shot of our mahonia and ninebark plants in the back yard:
It's nice having these evening promroses along the driveway. People walking by the house have asked about them.

North end of backyard
A year or two ago, we had a tree removed from this area, and since then Pam has been working on a garden there.

Catch-up #1: Backyard flowers
This is the first of six posts that represent an effort to make up for almost three months when I didn't post on this blog. I could excuse the inactivity due to obligations, but actually it was mostly laziness.
This backyard photo was taken in mid-August:

Out our back door yesterday
I've read that because of weather conditions earlier this year, this season's autumn foliage isn't as striking as usual. While I'm not sure of that, I do feel that the foliage change might be spread over a longer time period because almost two months ago I showed my first photos for the year of autumn leaves.

Colorful entrance to the house
Pam is responsible for making entering the house a colorful experience.
Bee balm and four o'clocks are the predominant plants.

Backyard Wildflowers
Buttercups are all over the lawn, front and back. While their presence is an indication that our lawn is not a perfect, uniform spread of grass, I prefer the interest and beauty of imperfections like these.
It's also a good year for Star-of -Bethlehem.
When mowing I instinctively refrained from cutting down a group of weedy-looking plants behind the swing and was later rewarded by the blooms of this plant which Pam thought was called fleabane:
I now know that the proper name for fleabane is erigeron.
